Lorenz Kalbin, a single man, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard the pink Lev under the command of Lieutenant Fyodor Fyodorov.
He settled in the Volga German colony of Balzer on 1 July 1767. He married Elisabeth Habermann. They are recorded on the 1767 census of Balzer in Household No. 86 along with Elisabeth's brothers (Philipp, age 12; Johann Ernst, age 7).
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Lorenz Kalbin was a weaver while the 1767 census records that he was a farmer.
