Viehrath*

There are two Viehrath families that settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. Their relationship to each other is not recorded on the 1767 census.

(1) Johann Friedrich Viehrath, a corporal [military?], and his wife Anna Stiegenland are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 68. The 1767 census records that Johann Friedrich Viehrath came from the German region of Berlin and that Anna Stiegenland came from the town of Den Haag in Holland [The Hague, Netherlands].

(2) Johann Viehrat, a single distiller (Weinbrenner), is recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 181. The 1767 census records that he came from the village of Dse [?].

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
