Discussion & Documentation

Johann [Georg] Weller, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 18 June 1766 aboard the hooker Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Adolph Scharpenberg.

He settled in the Volga German colony of Straub on 12 May 1767 and is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 1 along with the Johann Heinrich Straub family. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Weller and Straub families.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Weller came from the German region of Solms.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Weller family among the Volga German colonies.
