Discussion & Documentation

Joseph Allkofer, a carpenter (Zimmermann), and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 20 May 1766 aboard the Russian galliot Katharina Eleonora under the command of Skipper Peter Röder.

They settled in the Volga German colony of Leichtling on 14 May 1767. Joseph is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 33 along with his new wife Walpurgia Frückschäff and daughter [?] Magdalena (age 15½).

The 1767 census records that Joseph Allkofer came from the German village of Wassertrüdingen in the Ansbach region.
