Discussion & Documentation

Philipp Koch, a farmer, his wife Elisabeth Margaretha, and family settled in the Volga German colony of Frank in 1767. They and their children (Elisabeth, age 12; Johann Heinrich, age 10; Juliana, age 8; Johann Michael, age 3) are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No 15.

The 1767 census records that Philipp Koch came from the German village of Warnewalbach in the German region of Thüringen.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Koch family among the Volga German colonies.
