Discussion & Documentation

Johann Just Hein, a farmer, his wife Anna, and children (Johann[es], age 14; Anna, age 10) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 September 1766 aboard a ship under the command of Skipper Franz Nikolaus Schröder.

Johann Jost Heim [sic], his wife Anna, and children (Johann, age 15; Anna, age 11) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

They are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits that was attached to the 1767 census (No. 94).

In 1776, widower Just Hein moved from Zürich to Bettinger.

Just Hein, his new wife, stepdaughter, and stepdaughter's family are recorded on the 1798 census of Bettinger in Household No. Bt35.

The 1767 census records that Johann Just Hein came from the German village of Vonhausen.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Hein family among the Volga German colonies.
