Johann Hochum, a farmer, his wife Anna, and son Philipp (age ¾) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Frau Catharina under the command of Skipper Johann Joachim Jenßen.
Johann Hochum, his wife Elisabeth, and son Philipp (age ¾) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that son Philipp died in route.
Johannes Hochum, a farmer, and his wife Elisabeth are recorded on a list of Beauregard recruits that is attached to the 1767 census (No. 58).
A note on this list indicates that they settled in the Volga German colony of Zürich in 1768.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Hochum came from the German region of Bernburg. The 1767 census records that Johannes Hogem came from the German village of Wemelik? near Perlburg?.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
