Gottfried Schulz, a farmer, his wife Margaretha Sophia, and children (Christoph, age 16; Johann, age 14; Gottfried, age 12; Jakob, age 8; August, age 4; Johann David, age 6-weeks) are recorded on the 1767 census of Dreispitz in Household No. 11. They had settled in Dreispitz on 16 September 1766.

The 1767 census records that Gottfried Schulz came from the German village of Barth in Schwedisch Pommern (Swedish Pommerania).
