Andreas Starklauf [sic], a cobbler (Schuhmacher), his wife Anna, and sons (Johann [Paul], age 18; [Johann] Karl, age 16) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 28 August 1766 aboard the ship Der Junge Heinrich under the command of Skipper Heinrich Niemann.
They settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 17 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 136.
Andreas Stärkloff and his wife Anna Elisabeth née Kapf are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 20 along with his son Johann Heinrich, his wife Katharina Elisabeth née Weisenborn, and their daughter Maria Katharina (age 2½). The Land Register also records that Andreas died in 1783 and his wife in 1782.
In 1788, widower Andreas Starkloff moved from Katharinenstadt to Schwed.
The 1798 census of Paulskaya records Johann Paulus Starkloff from Katharinenstadt in Household No. Pl44.
The 1767 census records that Andreas Starkloff came from the German village of Raltfort in Sachsen (Saxony). The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Andreas Stärkloff came from the German village of Giegerslob... in the region of Sachsen-Gotha and that his wife is from the village of Rutzeldorf. Son Johann Heinrich Stärkloff's wife is recorded as coming from the village of Eichsfeld in the region of Hessen-Darmstadt.
