Discussion & Documentation

Johann Wilhelm Büge, a student, and his wife Amalia Wilhelmine Concordia Bohn settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 18.

Johann Wilhelm Büge and his wife Wilhelmina Amalia Koncordia née Bohn are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 14.

The Movement Table accompanying the 1798 census of Katharinenstadt records that Wilhelm Büge departed the colony with a temporary passport and did not return.

The 1767 census records that Johann Wilhelm Büge came from the German village of Rieben near Mittelmark in the Brandenburg region. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Wilhelm Büge came from the village of Rieben near Mittelmark and that his wife came from the village of Stargardt in the region of Pommern.

There are no known surviving male descendants of this Büge family among the Volga German colonies.
