Heinrich Rau, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and son Nikolaus (age 4) are recorded on the 1767 census of Keller in Household No. 21. They had settled there on 12 May 1767.
Following the destruction of Keller, this family relocated to the colony of Neu-Kolonie and Nikolaus's descendants (all daughters) are recorded there on the 1798 census in Household No. Nk04.
The 1767 census records that Heinrich Rau came from the German village of Kottenheim near Bassenheim.
There do not appear to be any surviving male lines of this Rau family among the Volga German colonies.
