Discussion & Documentation

Johann Melchior Mack from Anspach married on 28 May 1766 in St. Mary's Lutheran Church of Büdingen to Anna Maria Dietz from the area of Lauterbach.

Johann Melchior, a cobbler, and his wife Anna arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a barque named Fortitudo (Fortitude) under the command of Skipper John Scott.

Melchior Mack, a butcher (Fleischer), his wife Anna Maria, and daughter Georgina (age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Kraft in Household No. 3. They had settled there on 18 August 1767.

Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Melchior Mack came from the German region of Ansbach.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Mack family among the Volga German colonies.
