Johann Hartmann, a farmer, and his wife Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Jungfer Friederika under the command of Skipper Hans Christian Korsholm.
Jakob Hartmann, a farmer, and his wife Maria Katharina settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 12 May 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 30 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Seelmann in 1768.
The death of Jakob Hartmann (age 63) of Seelmann is recorded on 13 March 1808 in the parish register of Preuss.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Hartmann came from the German region of DarmstadtThe 1767 census records that Jakob Hartmann came from the German village of Wengenroth in the Darmstadt region.
