Johann Gottlieb Sachse, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), his wife Friederika Augusta Winter, and daughters (Friederika, age 10; Sophia, age 6) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 74. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.

Gottlieb Sachse (age 56), a cobbler (Schuster), his wife Friederika Augusta née Winter (age 52), and daughter Johanna Friederika (age 17) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 68 along with a note that daughter Johanna is in the colony of Kind where she has married Michael Thiech.

The 1767 census records that Johann Gottlieb Sachse came from the German village of Dresden in Sachsen (Saxony) and that his wife Friederika Augusta Winter had come from the German region of Anhalt-Zerbst. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Gottlieb Sachse came from the German village of Dresden in the region of Sachsen (Saxony) and that his wife came from the region of Anhalt-Zerbst.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
