François Soquiette, a cook (Koch), and his wife Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Katharinenstadt on 27 August 1766. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 73.
François Soquiette and his wife Mariana née Chargantier are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 165 along with a note that they have been in Penza since 1773.
The 1767 census records that François Soquiette came from the French town of Paris. The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register also records that he came from Paris and that his wife was from Strassburg in the Alsace region of Lothringen.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Soquiette family among the Volga German colonies.
