Discussion & Documentation

Johann Weisensee, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and mother Anna Maria arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a ship named Die Zwei Gebrüder (The Two Brothers) under the command of Skipper Nicolaus Peter Pinck.

Joh. Caspar Weisensee, his wife Catharina, daughter Anna Maria (newborn), and mother Anna Maria are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that Catharina and the newborn daughter died in route.

Widow Anna Maria Weiseise [sic] and her son Kaspar (25) settled in the Volga German colony of Paulskaya on 3 August 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 70.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Weisensee came from the German region of Darmstadt. The 1767 census records that Anna Maria Weiseise came from the German village of Geldersheim.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
