Jakob Kohl, a farmer, his wife Edith [sic] , and daughter Katharina Elisabeth (age 9-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 21. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.
Christian Friedrich Wasmuth, his wife Judith née Kellner (widow Kohl), children Sophia Christina, age 15; Johann Andreas, age 10), and stepdaughter Katharina Elisabeth [Kohl] (age 10) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 16 along with a note that Christian Friedrich Wasmuth died in 1777.
The 1767 census records that Jakob Kohl came from the German village of Basel in Switzerland. The 1776 Land Register records that Judith Kohl Wasmuth née Kellner came from the German village of Basel in Switzerland.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Kohl family among the Volga German colonies.
