Jakob Kohl, a farmer, his wife Edith, and daughter Katharina Elisabeth (age 9-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 21. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Kohl came from the German village of Basel in Switzerland.
