Jakob Degeneau, a craftsman (Handwerker), his wife Maria Elisabeth, and son Johannes (age 20) are recorded on the 1767 census of Moor in Household No. 52. They had settled there on 18 June 1767.

The 1767 census records that Jakob Degeneau came from the German region of Isenburg.
