Johann Georg Eltz, a farmer, and his wife Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Brabander on 13 August 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 93 along with Anna Maria Neuberger (age 36), a day laborer (Lohnarbeiterin) who is living with them.

The 1767 census records that Johann Georg Eltz came from the German region of Anhalt-Zerbst.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
