Discussion & Documentation

Johannes Baumgardt, a single cobbler (Schuhmacher), settled in the Volga German colony of Anton on 1 September 1767. He is recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 54 along with a note that he is living with the [Nikolaus] Bähr family.

The 1767 census records that Johannes Baumgardt came from the German village of Trarbach.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Baumgardt family among the Volga German colonies.
