Jürgen Erb, a weaver (Leineweber), his wife Anna, and son Philipp (age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 22 July 1766 aboard a barque named Der Junge Mattias (The Young Mattias) under the command of Skipper Johann Gottfried Selander.
Georg Erber, farmer, and his wife Anna Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Bangert on 1 July 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 2.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Jürgen Erb came from the German region of Nassau. The 1767 census records that Georg Erber came from the German village of Weilmünster in the Nassau-Weilburg region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Erb / Erber family among the Volga German colonies.
