Andreas Marx, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and son Ludwig (age 8) are recorded on the 1767 census of Bettinger in Household No. 17. They had settled there on 3 August 1767.

Ludwig Marx and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Bettinger in Household No. Bt15.

The 1767 census records that Andreas Marx came from the German region of Darmstadt.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Marx family among the Volga German colonies.
