Discussion & Documentation

Leonhard Wahr, a single tobacco maker, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Jungfer Friederika under the command of Skipper Hans Christian Korsholm.

Leonhard Wahr, a tobacco worker (Tabakarbeiter), and his wife Barbara settled in the Volga German colony of Keller on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 36 along with Barbara's son David Kloster (age 20).

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Leonhard Wahr came from the German region of Elsass (Alsace). The 1767 census records that Leonhard Wahr came from Strassburg.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
