[Johann] Gottlieb Hartmann, a farmer, his wife Maria, and son Johann [Gottfried] (age 9) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 4 July 1766 aboard the English frigate Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Gottlob Hartmann, his wife Maria Elisab., and children (Joh. Gottfriedt, age 9; Gottlieb Erdmann, born en route) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.
Johann Gottlieb Hartmann, a farmer, his wife Maria Elisabeth, and sons (Johann Gottfried, age 13; Gottlieb, age 1) are recorded on the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 27. They had settled there on 7 June 1767.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Johann Gottlieb Hartmann came from the German region of Dessau.
