Philipp Paul [sic], a blacksmith, his wife Maria, and daughters (Maria, age 14; Katharina, age 10; Elisabeth, age 2¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 2 August 1766 aboard an English frigate named Love & Unity under the command of Skipper Thomas Fairfax.
Joh. Philipp Pauly, his wife Anna Margaretha, and daughters (Maria Margaretha, age 14; Maria Catharina, age 10¼; Elisabetha, age 2¼) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that daughter Elisabetha died en route.
Maria Paul [sic] (age 16) is recorded on the 1767 census of Kaneau in Household No. 78 along with her stepfather Konrad Müller.
Orphan Katharina Paulÿ (age 12) is recorded on the appendix to the 1767 census of Nieder-Monjou in Household No. 134 along with a note that she settled in the colony of Schaffhausen in 1768.
The Oranienabum passenger list records that Philipp Paul came from the German region of Nassau. The 1767 census records that Katharina Paulÿ came from the German region of Nassau-Siegen.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Paulÿ family among the Volga German colonies.
