Discussion & Documentation

Jean Crety, a weaver (Weber), his wife Maria Wiedeberg, and son Johann Franz (age 1-week) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 67. They had settled there on 27 August 1766.

The 1767 census records that Jean Crety came from the French town of Rennes and that his wife Maria Wiedeberg had come from the Danish town of Christinen [?].

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
