Johann Klein, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 25 May 1766 aboard a pink named Новая Двинка (New Dvinka [a river in Russia]) under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perepechin along with other families that settled in the colony of Göbel.
Jakob Klein, a craftsman (Handwerker), and his wife Margaretha settled in the Volga German colony of Göbel on 25 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 76.
Both the Oranienbaum passenger list and the 1767 census record that Jakob Klein came from the German region of Hanau.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Klein family among the Volga German colonies.
