Heindel

Konrad Handel [sic], a farmer, his wife Anna Maria, and children (Kardula, age 20; Walpurgia, age 16; Stephan, age 13; Thomas, age 11; Martin, age 8½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Adler (Eagle) under the command of Skipper Paul Adolph Drath.

Conrad Handel [sic], his wife Anna Maria, and children (Cordula, age 20; Walpurga, age 16; Stephan, age 13; Thomas, age 11; Martin, age 8) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767.

Widower Konrad Heindel, a farmer, and his children ([a] Kartolia, age 20; [b] Walpurgia, age 15; [c] Stephan, age 14; [d] Martin, age 10) are recorded on the 1767 census of Seelmann in Household No. 80. They had settled there on 24 August 1767.

[a] Kartolia [Cordilia] Heindel is recorded as the mother of the illegitimate Michael Werwitzke. [See Werwitzke Family.]

[b] Walpurga Schreiber née Heindel from Seelmann and her family are recorded on the 1798 census of Brabander in Household No. Bn32.

[c] Stephan Heindel and his family are recorded on the 1811 census of Seelmann in Household No. 58 along with a note that he had been held captive by the Kyrgyz-Kaisaks and had returned to Seelmann in 1798.

Stephan Heindel and his family are recorded on the 1834 census of Seelmann in Household No. 77.

[d] Martin Heindel from Seelmann is recorded on the 1798 census of Brabander in Household No. Bn58.

Martin Heindel and his family are recorded on the 1811 census of Brabander in Household No. 58.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Konrad Handel [sic] came from the German region of Böhmen (Bohemia). The 1767 census records that Konrad Heindel came from the German village of Steinsdorf in the Bamberg region.
