Discussion & Documentation

Heinrich Kieffer, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and children (Johann, age 11; Anna, age 5¼; Katharina, age 1½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard the 2-masted merchant ship named Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Adolph Scharpenberg.

Heinrich Kieffer, a farmer, and his wife Anna Margaretha are recorded on the 1767 census of Seelmann in Household No. 16. They had settled there on 15 July 1767.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Heinrich Kieffer came from the German region of Nassau. The 1767 census records that Heinrich Kieffer came from the German village of Dasbach.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Kieffer family among the Volga German colonies.
