Johannes Meier, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Wachsamkeit (Vigilance) under the command of Skipper Jacob Heinrich Sager.
Johannes Meier, a farmer, his wife Maria Elisabeth, and daughter Maria Magdalena (age ¼) are recorded on the 1767 census of Seelmann in Household No. 63. They had settled there on 16 August 1767.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johannes Meier came from the German region of Bamberg. The 1767 census records that Johannes Meier came from the German village of Birk [Burk].
There are no known surviving male lines of this Meier family among the Volga German colonies.
