Discussion & Documentation

Christophor Öchsner, son of Kilian & Kunigunde from Greußenheim, was born 6 March 1705 and died 20 April 1747. He married on 17 January 1729 to Anna Maria Nier, daughter of Georg Nier from Homburg am Main.

The birth of a son born to Christophor Öcksner & Anna Maria Nier is recorded in the village of Greußenheim (bei Würzburg): Johannes, born 7 October 1731.

Johannes Öchsner married on 16 January 1759 in Tiefenthal to Margaretha Gerig. She had been born 28 November 1735 in Tiefenthal and was the daughter of Georg Gerig (25 August 1703 - 29 April 1727) & Marta Adam (born 2 October 1701).

The births of two sons born to Johannes Öchsner & Margaretha Gerig are recorded in the parish register of Tiefenthal: (1) Johann Georg, born 1 November 1761; and (2) Johann Kaspar, born 25 July 1764.

Johannes Exner, a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and sons (Hans Georg, age 5; Kaspar, age 2¼) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 12 May 1766 aboard the galliot Anna Katharina under the command of Skipper Daniel Geier.

Johann Fuchsner [sic], a farmer, his wife Margaretha, and sons (Georg, age 7; Kaspar, age 4) are recorded on the 1767 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. 32. They had settled there on 5 March 1767.

(1) Georg Exner and his family are recorded on the 1798 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. Om08.

(2) The widow and children of Kaspar Exner are recorded on the 1798 census of Ober-Monjou in Household No. Om04.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Exner came from the German region of Würzburg. The 1767 census records that Johann Fuchsner came from the German village of Tiefenthal.

[Some publications erroneously translate this surname as Eisner and Fuchsner.]
