Discussion & Documentation

Johann August Meier, a teacher (Lehrer), and his wife Maria settled in the Volga German colony of Warenburg on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 19.

The 1767 census records that Johann Augustus Meier came from the German village of Gaterschlein [Gangerschild?] in the Holstein region.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Meier family among the Volga German colonies.
