Jakob Wolf, a farmer, his wife Wilhelmina, and adopted son Philipp (age 8) [surname believed to be Hammel] are recorded on the 1767 census of Preuss in Household No. 40. They had arrived in Preuss on 12 May 1767. [See Hammel Family.]
The 1767 census records that Jakob Wolf came from the German village of Ateleng [?] in the Kurtrier region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Wolf family among the Volga German colonies.
