Johann Baptist von Mispel, a cobbler (Schuster), his wife Katharina, and son Johann (age 7) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 9 June 1766 aboard the ship Die Jungfer Friederika under the command of Skipper Hans Christian Korsholm.
Johann Batist Vanmispel, a cobbler (Schuhmacher), and his wife Katharina Elisabeth settled in the Volga German colony of Preuss on 12 May 1767. They are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 36.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Baptist von Mistel came from the region of Braband. The 1767 census records that Johann Batist Vanmispel came from the German village of Lebbin [?] in the Brandenburg region.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
