Discussion & Documentation

Franz Thuris, a miller (Müller), his wife Katharina, and son Johann Adam (age ¼) are recorded on the 1767 census of Preuss in Household No. 33 along with the orphaned Katharina Reuter. The 1767 census does not record a relationship between the Thuris and Reuter families. They had settled in Preuss on 12 May 1767.

The 1767 census records that Franz Thuris came from the Austrian village of Mürzzuschlag.

There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
