Discussion & Documentation

Widow Maria Katharina Fischer, whose unnamed husband had died while being transported to the Volga by Lieutenant Friedrich Oldenburg, and her children (Johann Georg, age 15; Robertus, age 12; Anna Maria, age 1½) are recorded on the 1767 census of Preuss in Household No. 131 along with a note that they relocated to the colony of Seelmann in 1768. They had settled in Preuss on 15 July 1767.

The 1767 census records that Maria Katharina Fischer came from the German village of Wenden.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Fischer family among the Volga German colonies.
