Johann Jakob Funk, a baker (Bäcker), his wife Anna, and son Anton (age 9-months) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 157. They had settled there on 17 August 1767.
The 1767 census records that Johann Jakob Funk came from the German village of Sterzhausen.
