Johann Mager, a farmer, his wife Katharina, and daughter Margaretha (age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 August 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Drei Gebrüder (Three Brothers) under the command of Skipper Ludwig Münzenberg.
Johann Mager, his wife Catharina, and daughter Margaretha (age 2½) are recorded on the list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that daughter Margaretha died en route.
Itd & Rauschenbach record that this family is recorded on the 1767 census of Leitsinger in Household No. 32. This is one of the Households (No. 30-36) missing from Igor Pleve's publication of the 1767 census of Leitsinger.
Johannes Mager and his wife are recorded on the 1798 census of Neu-Kolonie in Household No. Nk08.
The death of Johannes Mager (age 59) of Neu-Kolonie is recorded on 11 May 1804 in the parish register of Preuss.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Mager came from the German region of Bamberg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
