Nikolaus Berge, a farmer, and his wife Eva are recorded on the 1767 census of Philippsfeld in Household No. 8. They had settled there on 3 August 1767.

In 1769, Nikolaus Berge and his family moved from Philippsfeld to Zürich.

The 1767 census records that Nikolaus Berge came from the German village of Küchen bei Waldkappel.
