Johann Mosser, a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 16 August 1766 aboard a galliot named Die Wachsamkeit (Vigilance) under the command of Skipper Jacob Heinrich Sager.

Johannes [Jakob Ladislaus] Mosser, a single teacher (Lehrer), is recorded on the 1767 census of Leitsinger in Household No. 82 along with a note that he is working as a day-laborer (Lohnarbeiter). He had settled there on 15 July 1767.

An entry in the minutes of the Office of Immigrant Oversight on 31 December 1807 (GASO F.180, O.1, D.57 - p. 746) records that Anton Regler, a colonist in Luzern, requested to take Johannes Moser, a colonist from Leitsinger, into his home and care for him due to his old age. He has no children. From 1774 to 1778, Johannes Moser had served as a teacher in various colonies. He is not recorded anywhere on the 1798 census of the Volga German colonies. Permission was granted for him to stay with Anton Regler.

The death of Joseph [sic] Mosser in 1826 is recorded on the 1834 census of Köhler in Household No. 91.

The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Johann Mosser came from the German region of Bamberg. The 1767 census records that Johannes Mosser came from the German village of Vilseck.

There are no known surviving male lines of this Mosser family among the Volga German colonies.
