Kornelius Stahlbaum, a merchant (Kaufmann), his wife Anna, and son Samuel (age 7) are recorded on the 1767 census of Katharinenstadt in Household No. 133. They had settled there on 7 June 1767.

The 1767 census records that Kornelius Stahlbaum came from the Dutch town of Amsterdam in Holland and that his wife Anna came from the town of London in England.
