History
In early 1900s, the first Volga German families settled in Colonia La Joya (earlier known as Campos La Palma).
Volga German Congregations
A Lutheran church (IELA) was constructed in La Joya in 1925. Its first and only resident pastor, The Rev. Carlos Schut, had arrived in 1919 from Minnesota.
