David Lynn "Dave" Dreiling, son of Leo P. Dreiling & Carolyn Berland, was born 13 January 1967. He grew up in the Concordia, Kansas, area where his father owned/operated a series of clothing stores.
After graduating from K-State University in 1989, Dave Dreiling began selling customized imprinted apparel to fraternities and sororities under the name "It's Greek to Me." In 1993, the name was changed to GTM Sportswear. In 2016, GTM was acquired for $21 million by HanesBrands, Inc., the world's largest marketer of basic apparel. As of 2019, all products were being produced under the brand Champion Teamwear.
The Dreiling family traces its Volga German ancestry to the colony of Herzog.
