Daniel Haxt [sic], a single farmer, arrived from Lübeck via Reval [Estonia] at the port of Oranienbaum on 25 May 1766 aboard a pinque named Новая Двинка (New Dvinka [a river in Russia]) under the command of Lieutenant Ivan Perepechin.
Daniel Tanz, his wife Barbara, and stepson Johann Faas (age 14) are recorded on the 1775 census of Grimm in Household No. 8. [See Faas Family.]
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Daniel Haxt [sic] came from the German region of the Pfalz.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Tanz family among the Volga German colonies.
