Two Brandt families from Halberstadt are recorded in Katharinenstadt. Their relationship to each other, if any, needs further research.
(1) Johann Wilhelm Brandt (age 47), a merchant (Kaufmann), his wife Christina née Weybereith (age 42), an children (Johann Wilhelm, age 21; Christian Friedrich, age 18; Johanna Christina, age 17; Susanna Augusta, age 8½) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 152 along with a note that they have been beurlaubt [on leave] in Penza since 1770.
(2) Christian Martin Brandt (age 44), a pharmacist (Apotecker) is recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 202.
The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that both of these Brandt families came from the German village of Halberstadt.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Brandt family among the Volga German colonies.
