Discussion & Documentation
Joachim Sauvegrin (age 41), a French teacher (Französischer Sprachmeister), his wife Anna Françoise née de Franae (age 35), and sons (Jean, age 19; Michel, age 7) are recorded on the 1776 Katharinenstadt Grundbuch [Land Register] in Household No. 170 along with a note that they had gone to Pensa in 1772.
The 1776 Katharinenstadt Land Register records that Joachim Sauvegrin came from the French city of Paris and that his oldest son had been born in Amsterdam.
There are no known surviving male lines of this family among the Volga German colonies.
