Maria Elisabetha Meyer, daughter of Johann Barthold Meyer & Maria Sophia Rausch, was born 1 April 1739 in Überau.
German families preparing to move to Russia gathered in the village of Büdingen, and her marriage to Johannes Buxbaum is recorded in the parish register of Büdingen:
"Johannes Buchsbaum from Sprachbrücken & Maria Eliesabetha Meÿer from Reicheim [Reinheim] married on 25 April 1766." [See Buxbaum Family.]
Johannes and his wife Elisabeth arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 19 July 1766 aboard a galliot named Kronstadt under the command of Lieutenant Samuel Gibbs.
They arrived in the Volga German colony of Holstein on 7 July 1767 and are recorded there on the 1767 census in Household No. 38.
Johannes Buxbaum and Maria Elisabeth Meier are recorded on the 1798 census of Holstein in Household No. Ho35.
The death of Maria Elisabeth Buxbaum née Meier is recorded in the parish register of Shcherbakovka on 19 March 1816 at the age of 77 years. The entry in the parish register records that she had been born in the German village of Überau.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Meier family recorded among the Volga German colonies.
