The parish register of St. Georg Catholic Church in Höchstadt an der Aisch records that Joseph Stich from Winshoffen? married on 4 October 1763 in St. Anthony's Chapel to Barbara Russ, daughter of Paul & Maria Russ of Höchstadt an der Aisch. [St. Anthony's Chapel is a votive church (church of thanksgiving) located on the Lauberberg River under the jurisdiction of St. Georg's in Höchstadt an der Aisch.]
The parish register of St. Georg Catholic Church in Höchstadt an der Aisch records records the birth of one daughter to Joseph Stich & Barbara Russ: Anna Margaretha, born 29 July 1764.
Joseph Stich, a miller (Müller), his wife Barbara, and daughter Margaretha (age 2½) arrived from Lübeck at the port of Oranienbaum on 15 August 1766 aboard a snow-brig named Drei Gebrüder (Three Brothers) under the command of Skipper Ludwig Münzenberg.
Joseph Stich, his wife Barbara, and daughters (Margaretha, age 13; Magdalena, born en route) are recorded on a list of colonists being transported from St. Petersburg to Saratov in 1767 along with a note that newborn Magdalena died en route.
Itd & Rauschenbach record that this family is recorded on the 1767 census of Leitsinger in Household No. 33. This is one of the Households (No. 30-36) missing from Igor Pleve's publication of the 1767 census of Leitsinger.
The Oranienbaum passenger list records that Joseph Stich came from the German region of Bamberg.
There are no known surviving male lines of this Stich family among the Volga German colonies.
