Niederlauken, Kr. Hochtaunus, Hessen

There is evidence of a settlement located where Niederlauken is today since the Neolithic era. The first written mention of the village is from a document dated 1213.

In 1659, Niederlauken came under the jurisdiction of Nassau-Usingen.

As part of the administrative consolidation efforts of 1972, Niederlauken joined several other villages to under the administration of Weilrod.

There has been a chapel in Niederlauken since at least 1500. This structure (according to a document from 1723) also evidently served as the town hall (Rathaus).

There has been a resident pastor in Niederlauken since 1700.

The corner stone for a new church building was laid in 1852, and the new structure was consecrated in 1854.

An organ was installed by A. Voigt. The first bell was hung in the tower in 1895.

Today, the churches in Niederlauken and Oberlauken are joined into one Evangelical parish of Lauken.
