Today, Zell is administratively part of the municipality of Romrod.
From 1604 to 1806, Zell was located in the Duchy of Hessen-Darmstadt.
Church:
A rectangular hall church, the first church recorded in Zell, was consecrated in 825. It was replaced by a late Romanesque fortified church around 1248.
In 1718, this church was renovated. It was renovated again in 1781.
A organ built by Georg Henrich Wagner was added in 1708.
Today, the sanctuary houses an altarpiece (currently located on a side wall) which dates to around 1500 and a round baptismal font which was designed in 1485.
